SUPERSTAR Boy George stunned fans when he turned up in a record store to film for internet sitcom Svengali.
The singer agreed to appear in Shameless actor Jonathan Owen’s online show after telling him he was a massive fan.
Wearing a bright-green oversized trilby the former Culture Club frontman was in a London branch of Fopp for six hours
for the shooting with Office star Martin Freeman – as shoppers browsed the shelves of the still-open store.

Jonathan, from Merthyr Tydfil, said: “It was a great shoot, but trying to shoot everything in a day you have got to be
really on it to make sure everything is good.
“The store was open while we were filming so we had to shoot around people.
“It just took longer. You’ve got to stand in the aisles and tell people: ‘Can you just wait two minutes?’ Most of them were all right.

“But you got the odd jazz aficionado going ‘Can I get to that Bluenote track from 1958?’ And I was saying, ‘Are you really sure that is
the most important thing in your life right now? Can you wait 15 minutes?’
“And I’ve never seen anyone get asked for his autograph so much. George is the most instantly recognisable person.
“And he signed everything. He never doesn’t do anything – he’d just sign and smile and say ‘Hello!’ He was mobbed everywhere.”

Jonathan and the one-time heroin addict – real name George O’Dowd – popped out so the icon could smoke a fag.
In 15 minutes Jonathon was only able to chat for three because of starstruck fans begging for pictures and signatures
with George – jailed last year for falsely imprisoning a rent boy.
Jonathan, 38, said: “He would sign autographs as though it was like breathing. It’s been like this for 30 years for him.
“There is a lot of love for George. He brings the best out in people. You like him instantly. You just think he is a really nice guy.”

In the BBC’s recent Culture Club drama Worried About the Boy a photographer told the young George the press were concerned for him.
Jonathan said: “That’s what it is like. You just think George, ‘I’m worried about you!’ You care about him instantly.”
Big-hearted George, 48, even paid tribute to Stuart Cable, the former Stereophonics drummer from Aberdare who died in the
early hours of Monday after a night out in the town’s Welsh Harp pub.

He told Jonathan he was “sorry” to hear the 40-year-old died.
The pair knew each other as they once appeared together on an episode of Later with Jools Holland.
Bizarrely, George bumped into Jonathan and Stuart in Soho just a few weeks before his death.
The pair were chatting outside a cafe as the rocker was set to appear in the next episode of Svengali.
In it Jonathan’s character Dixie was to return home to Wales with a London friend who would be amazed by his rock star pal.
